Overview of Discovery Format
Discovery Club is a "Pioneer Club" for a small church.
Each unit consists of 4 weeks of bible study, games, skits and activities pertaining to a particular theme. Some previous themes have been Creation, Knowing Jesus, Family, Loving our Neighbors and the Golden Rule. On the fifth week, the children earned their badges in a brief ceremony. During each meeting, the children learn or review a Bible Scripture and read Scripture relevant to the unit theme. They discuss the meaning and learn how to apply to their lives. The leaders and assistants aid the children in participating in activities which provide opportunities to demonstrate what they have learned with their peers within the group.
Discovery Club meets every Wednesday at 7:30 - 9:00 PM. A yearly schedule will be provided.

Discovery has gotten off to a great start this year,,,the children and the leaders are all happy to be back and we welcome our new members and visitors,
This month's unit is entitled, IN GOD'S FAMILY
The children have learned that God loves them so much and wants them to join in His family. They learned that while God wants us to be kind, be giving, and helpful to those in need, that does not make us children of God. They learned that it is by believing in Him and accepting Christ that they become His children. We also discussed the qualities that make a good father and that God is really our perfect Father who loves us even more than our earthly fathers.
We also studied and discussed how each one of us makes up the body of Christ, the church. That a church is not a building. but God's people. They learned how each member is important to the whole body and just as our bodies suffer when one part hurts, the church suffers when its members are weak...that everyone needs to be using their gifts in the church and serving God.
Lastly, the children learned that God calls us to tell all about His son, Jesus, and all the wonderful things He did. We talked about Paul and some of what he endured in his committment to spread the Good News of Jesus, to bring others to salvation.
Club members will be earning their badges for the scripture verse and "outdoor fun". The children learned how to use a compass, engaged in activities that help appreciate God's creation, and shared about their favorite animals.
We look forward to starting a new Discovery Kit in the next few weeks.
With love found in Christ Jesus,
